Margins filled with neat block handwriting. Page 112 (“Maintenance Schedule”) has every interval checked off, in the same blue pen, across what appears to be 23 years. Page 140 (“If Your Engine Won’t Start”) has been torn out. In the margin beside the hole, someone has written: “never needed it.”
The Fellowship spent two years debating whether “J. W.” is Jeremy Williams. Brother Gary ended the debate by declaring that it both is and is not, simultaneously, “like a Schrödinger’s Civic.” No one fully understood this. Everyone agreed.

They keep waving at me in the Costco parking lot. One of them gave me a casserole. It was good, honestly. No raisins.
I’m not coming back for anyone in a minivan. I don’t even own a minivan. I’m thinking about
I just like Hondas. They’re good cars. You put in the oil, they keep going. I don’t know. Maybe that’s the whole thing. Maybe that’s all any of it is. You take care of something and it keeps going.
Tell Gary to call his mom.
